The capital’s Lokomotiv NN and CSKA completed the Top 4 in the national men’s water polo championship after playing the last matches in the second qualification of the “West” zone. Thus, a total of nine teams that started in the championship formed the standings before the battles for the medals, after meeting once each against each other in a total of 4 tournaments played in Burgas and the capital.
In Sofia at the “Diana” pool, the CSKA water polo players survived, having gone through three mandatory victories in their three matches. This was the only option for them to reach the clashes for the medals.
Lokomotiv NN secured its place in the Top 4 after its first match – 8:4 against Slavia. This was followed by 6:10 against CSKA in a dramatic and tense clash and a smooth 19:5 against Levski.
The final for the title will be on April 21 at 5 p.m., and for the cup – on March 17, also at 5 p.m. Both matches are scheduled for live broadcast from Burgas on BNT3. The live broadcast will be the first for the domestic water polo after a 32-year hiatus, when BNT last broadcast the European qualifier Bulgaria – Netherlands 11:7 from the Diana outdoor pool in Sofia, played in front of 3,000 people.
